Comfort via food and tunes

I now know more than any modern layperson ought to about the Offices of the Hours.

The things I do to write fic. *snerk*

Of course, the thing I forgot to do was bring my fic disks with me to work this morning, so I am ficless today. No fic to work on.

I am, instead, attempting to catch up on answering comments, as I've been very slack with that, or I've gotten a lot more comments than usual, or some combination of the two.

I had an urge for comfort food for lunch. I don't know why. But I had a yummy grilled mozzarella sandwich and I have chocolate milk. It's like being back in kindergarten. Whee!

Though I have to say, I like the Hershey's bottled chocolate milk much better than this Nesquik. Nesquik has a very definite fake plastic taste to it, which is making me kind of queasy. I may end up dumping it. Sigh. No comfort there.

I managed to load a bunch of music onto the iPod yesterday, so I have more than just Billy Joel now.

Tunes make me a happy commuter.

I still have a ton more stuff to load on there (and that's before I ever get to the 'downloading new music legally' business) and I want to definitely make that S/R soundtrack I was talking about. (I have one last set of writing soundtrack CDs to make and then that project is done. I just have to mail 'em all out.) K made me a really good S/R cd, which I loaded onto the iPod, because Love Like Blood! Fugitive Motel! Pacing the Cage! Whee!

And I have totally been seduced by Tom McRae. I didn't think I would be, but it happened, and I am lost.

I love discovering new music. Makes me so happy.

Now I just have to look up these psalms for relevant quotes, and decide if I'm doing strictly a S/R story or a bunch of couples.

Is it wrong that for Terce I'm thinking I could H/R/Hr and keep to the theme of threes?

Don't get me wrong. I like Harry/Ginny. And Harry/Luna (well, I would if I could find good fic for it). And Harry/Neville, Harry/Ron, and the occasional spot of Harry/Draco (in the right hands).

But H/R/Hr just seems so right, in a way that even Buffy/Willow/Xander never did.

Hmmm...

the hours and times

I want to write a set of linked drabbles based on the monastic hours and the lifecycle of a relationship, but I can't decide if I want it to be *one* relationship (i.e., Sirius/Remus), or if I want to match different relationships in different phases (i.e., Ron/Hermione for Matins, Arthur/Molly for Sext, etc.).

I have a feeling I'm going to do just S/R, because dude, they live in my brain and won't let me think of anyone or anything else. I mean, Matins could be the beginning - meeting on the train, or it could be waking up after a full moon and realizing they care about each other in a ... different way than they do about James or Peter or anyone else. Compline could be the Azkaban years, and Vespers during OotP. I dunno.

I didn't write at all today. I hate when that happens.

For more about my day, go here.

I had iced tea with dinner, and dinner was at about 9:30pm, so I'm caffeinated and not likely to sleep for a good long while. Sigh.

Oh well, tomorrow's Sunday and I took Monday off, so maybe I can get some of this email answered, respond to LJ comments and still manage to write something or other. Or at least edit stuff I've already written. But BBB!Remus is coming up on the climax (or something), and amnesiac!Sirius is humming along pretty well, I think. I don't know if it has any real narrative drive - I just keep writing conversations and hoping they carry the story along.

Ah me, I really should try to sleep.

another day, another dollar

Off the Wrist and Something Borrowed, aka, the infamous shirtfic, are now both up on the site.

You can, if you prefer, read Something Borrowed in the LJ and, you know, leave a comment, like a good fandom netizen.

Also, The Intimate Art of the Close Shave is up in unbetaed form. Sirius. Remus. Shaving. Sex. Sort of an unofficial per-OotP sequel to Razor's Edge, which is still not revised. Sigh.

I am without internet access at home the next two evenings, so if you need me, email me at victoria at unfitforsociety dot net (obviously filling in the @ and the . where the words are. I don't know why I bother, given the amount of spam I get now, but I'm *trying* to whittle it down by munging like this).

Speaking of which, new thing on the site - my name explicitly listed under the story title - I did it for a couple stories, because apparently people prefer it, though it seems egotistical *and* redundant to me. But then, when I print something to read offline, I include the URL with it, so I can find it again. I think that's me being anal, rather than other people being slack, so... But I think the full mailing list story headers are unnecessary and *ugly* on a personal archive. I realize that someone could be coming from outside and thus, not know whose site they're on, but there's a contact link on every page, and the navigation is easy, so ... I'm not sure what I think.

What do *you* think?

***

Work is... here. MT and LR are out, which means G and I are picking up their slack, and there are all these different sets of documents that have to be sent out and coordinating who gets which is making my head hurt and it's only 9:30.

Sigh.

Plus, I have a ton of data entry to do before the year ends.

Another day, another dollar.

Today, life is good

The iPod is charging, MusicMatch is installed, I found the USB port on the back of the laptop, and all is well.

Whee!

Yes, my mommy and daddy got me an iPod for Christmas, just as I'd requested, because they are the bestest mommy and daddy ever.

I also got the PotC dvd, the second season of MASH, Monsters Inc., Johnny Cash "The Man Comes Around", the latest Pearl Jam, Elvis's second number 1s album, and and... other stuff I'm blanking on right now. *g*

So I am a happy Ms. P.

In other news, the wankfic, officially known as Off the Wrist is up in the LJ.

Life is good today. *g*

The painting is "Boreas" by John William Waterhouse. Again, not a muse, but I like her. She suits the color scheme.

The quote is from Sir Philip Sidney.
